Looking for a casino to blow some money while you are in Japan? Unfortunately, besides pachinko there are no legal casinos in Japan. The governor of Tokyo once talked about building a single casino in Tokyo, but it seems that those rumors have faded away. However, if you need to get your gambling fix then there is still one place that you can go.

Inside the Venus Fort mall located at Odaiba (Tokyo) is a little casino run by a gaming school that uses play money. Before starting, you will have to become a member for a small fee (I believe it was about ￥1,000 which includes a small amount of play credit).

Don’t expect Casino Venus to be anything like a real casino. Casino Venus is small and you are playing for fake money, so it’s not quite as exciting as Las Vegas. There aren’t as many drunks or as many any mid 40s cocktail waitresses. No Elvis impersonators either! But if you want to sharpen your game before a trip to a real casino then Casino Venus is good training ground.
